M.A.P. Records was started in1995 on the eastside of Detroit by Tameko J Williams( DJ Maaco) & Odell Perry(P-Dog). It All happened when a record company Maaco use to work for went out of business. The company named Techstarr Records asked DJ Maaco to remix a song that he had produced called "Bitch I Aint The One". Maaco had completed the remix but was suprised to find out that the owner decided to give up the music business. One day talking with P-dog,Maaco was sharing what had happened with the record company. " Here I am with these tracks and all for nothing" Maaco said. Suddenly P-dog says" hey, why don't we start a record company ourselves and srew those scrubs?" It was at that time Maaco And P-Dog Records was born. Their first release was of course " The One" and " Live At M.A.P. Lounge Pt.1" followed by 4 more 12 inch EPs. The Label groups were Detroit In Effect, The Men U Never See, and P-Solo. The label is still very active today and is currently working on solo projects by P-Dog, Dj Maaco, and of course Detroit In Effect. So stay tuned, there's more!!!
